Smallholder research has several components, and includes:
Improving smallholder agronomic and farm management strategies. Understanding smallholder livelihood strategies and their influence on smallholder production. Analysing recent socio-agronomic changes occurring among smallholder households Monitoring and evaluating smallholder interventions. Examining land tenure issues (e.g. customary land developments). The primary aim of the research is to develop appropriate extension interventions that improve smallholder oil palm productivity and strengthen the economic and social well-being of smallholder households.
